Hannah Kennedy (she/her)
Welcome. My name is Hannah and I'm a Licensed Associate Counselor here in my home state of Arizona. My career in mental health started by working with young children, which gave me a beatiful window in to how early experiences can impact us and the way we view the world. I work from a trauma-informed perspective in the broadest sense. Trauma is not just the big, obvious events that happen to us. It is also the small, but pervasive, experiences that teach us about who we are, where we belong, and what we deserve. The ways that we cope with these experiences often become our default settings, which may or may not continue to serve us.
I utilize EMDR, IFS parts work, EFIT, and a range of other techniques that allow clients to understand and organize their past experiences and recognize how they show up in the present. I find that it becomes easier for clients to make behavioral and relational changes and build the life they want once they feel that they are worthy and deserving. Sometimes, working with trauma means that we're also going to spend time learning ways to regulate emotion, tolerate distress, and communicate to our support system.
I aim to bring humility and curiosity to my practice, and create a safe and affirming space for anyone who seeks out my care. I believe that connection and compassion hold the keys to sustainable change, and that it is possible to experience both in the relationship between counselor and client.
