Allison Westmoore, LMSW
As a therapist having lived experience with trauma, mental health, parenthood, and being part of the LGBTQIA+ community, I know how multifaceted and complex a person and their experiences can be. As your therapist, it is my priority to see the whole you – every experience, quality, and intricate part that has made you the unique person you are today. I believe everyone has the right to individualized and judgment free mental health care and that is at the core of how I practice.
Throughout my educational and professional career, I have had experience working with people at all stages of life, and with different mental health concerns. While in graduate school, I began my career in a residential setting helping people struggling with substance use disorders and navigating the criminal justice system. I then completed my internship and worked as a therapist in an outpatient mental health setting where I helped provide therapy to children and families on LGBTQIA+ experiences, everyday life transitions, as well as varying mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD. While I currently specialize in working with children and families, I also continue to see adults. I think it is important to not only have a certain population of interest, but to also see a wide array of clients to help diversify and improve in practice.
I use a trauma informed approach to care and pull from many different therapy modalities to create the most personalized and effective course of treatment. I have been trained in and utilize components from Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
